Currently analyzing my friends paper on controversial art, focusing on Elisabeth Ohlson Wallin and her exhibition Ecce Homo (1998) where Jesus were portrayed as from the bible but as an homosexual. Of course this would cause a stir and she would receive threats for putting christianity and HTBQ-questions under the same topic. This picture above is definitely my favorite, it’s amazing how she put so many feelings and such an important topic in one picture like this. Sometimes controversy is the only way to open peoples eyes.

Also there is an amazing story behind the two people in the picture that I can’t remember properly, basically this woman were very close with a lot of homosexual men in Stockholm during this time, since most of them didn’t have have much of a family she would become a mother figure and do her best to help them. Many of them, like this man in the picture, died of aids. And as the Virgin Mary holds the body of her dying son this woman does the same.
